HCG Pregnancy Test Urine Strips
The proper use of a pregnancy test kit generally involves steps such as choosing the right time, following standardized procedures, and interpreting results correctly. Improper operation may affect the accuracy of the test results, so it is recommended to strictly adhere to the instructions provided.
- Choosing the Right Time
It is usually advised to conduct a pregnancy test using a test kit 7 days after a missed period, as the level of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) in urine is relatively high at this time. Testing too early may yield a false-negative result due to insufficient hormone concentration. The first urine after waking up in the morning has a higher concentration, leading to relatively more accurate test results.
- Following Standardized Procedures
After opening the package, use the test kit immediately. Vertically immerse the tip of the absorbent stick into urine for about 5 seconds, ensuring that the urine does not exceed the marked line. Alternatively, collect urine in a clean container and place the test strip in the urine for 10 seconds. After removal, lay the test kit flat and wait for 5 minutes, avoiding tilting or touching the reaction area during this period.
- Interpreting Results Correctly
The appearance of a red line each in the control area (C area) and the test area (T area) indicates a positive result, suggesting a possible pregnancy. If only the C area shows color, it is negative; if the C area does not show color, the test is invalid. Note that results displayed after more than 10 minutes of testing may be inaccurate, and weak positive results on some test strips may need to be judged by observing color intensification.
If the test result is positive, it is recommended to retest after 48 hours or visit a hospital for a blood hCG test. If symptoms such as abdominal pain or vaginal bleeding are present, seek medical attention promptly to rule out abnormal pregnancy conditions such as ectopic pregnancy. The sensitivity of pregnancy test kits varies among different brands, so it is advisable to choose products from reputable manufacturers that are within their validity period.
